How it works
The house system aims to promote friendly competition between students, which improves overall performance and engagement in school. The houses recognize achievement in sport, positive contributions to community life, the arts, and academic excellence. Trained House Captains assist in the day to day running of the respective houses. This in turn fosters a system of positive peer pressure. Each house is led by two House Captains, Grade Level Prefects, and Class Captains.
Additionally, North American International School has an American Style Student Council that consists of students elected by their peers. The Student Council consists of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Grade Level Class Representatives. The students run for office, give speeches to their peers, and then the school holds elections to vote for the positions.
This system helps prepare our students to be future leaders in their community, and encourages student engagement in the school, and school events. The Student Council plays an active role in organizing school activities and events, and in providing ideas for improvements within the school.
